Single Review – The Moons – Heart & Soul

Northampton’s finest classic rockers are to return on March 31st with their new single ‘Heart & Soul’. It is a real indulgent glimpse back to 1973 with T-Rex and Bowie references in abundance. The song opens with the jumping, distorted rhythm, low lying and trembling bass lines along with a simple and stomping percussion. The organs over the top of this add that sugary glam rock glisten to the whole affair and the slightly echoed vocal coupled with the expected backing vocals simply adds to this and makes the chorus a little more infectious. There are hooks a plenty from the general set up and nature of the song but the screeching lead guitar elements tearing through the song simply add to this. This is a straight up link to the past and nothing particularly fresh, but it’s obvious familiarity is what makes the track enjoyable.
