Sunday Suggestion – Chairlift – I Belong In Your Arms

Chairlift are a synthpop duo from Brooklyn (yes they have factories full of them there) who formed in 2005. They released their debut album Does You Inspire You with the commercially successful ‘Bruises’ that spawned advert usage and decent chart positioning. This was followed up with the 2012 album Something which was more heavily laden with synths and electronica with the prime example being the lead single ‘I Belong On Your Arms’. A track that is an embracing piece of full on pop. Everything from the hovering synths, and the crisp percussion that leads into the undulating guitars and the deep bass lines. This is combined with a more modern vocal with floating and distant slides through a swooning pop delivery. It’s a happy and rapid song that isn’t too special but has enough combining factors to make it fun and interesting.
