Single Review – Metronomy – Old Skool

Devon’s masters of Indie Pop are back with their fifth studio album Summer 08 (Out on July 1st) and today Metronomy released their first single from it in ‘Old Skool’. The track, like its title features old school synths akin to Giorgio Moroder and has a certain discotheque feel to it. Along with these ruggedly resonant electronic chords are metallic percussion and a stiff bass line. The track breaks out into early Hip Hop interludes before slipping off into an instrumental spree. Throughout Joe Mount’s vocals dance on the line between playful and mad in an oddly striking song.
