Single Review – Metronomy – Back Together

With the July 1st release date of their fifth studio album Summer 08 fast approaching, Devonshire Indie Pop masters Metronomy have released a second single in ‘Back Together’. The retro theme seems to have stayed for this song with resonant, whirring  electronica and tumbling, echoed percussion. With this short, stabbing rhythm sections add a tentative element to the track. The whimsical manner of the backing vocals and the track as a whole is something that runs to the core of their current sound. Whilst impeccably delivered, doubts have arisen over the creative wisdom of re-adopting a sound that had already been re-adopted in 2013, but Joe Mount usually moulds it in his image at some point.
