Manchester’s rising Pop commodity: Shura, is releasing her debut album Nothing’s Real on July 8th. It has been a long time coming with work starting on it almost two years ago, but it is clear that Aleksandra wanted to ensure she had quality and quantity to her album. Her new single ‘Make It Up’ is evocative of this and demonstrates her influences clearly. The song has whirring synths through it’s core and intermittent percussion entwined around a crisp, intermittent riff akin to that of HAIM. Her breathy, but capable vocals add a natural drawing out of the tracks sounds and it is easy for the instrumentation to play off this and in this case, accentuate it. It is a stylish and sleek piece of Pop from a capable artist. A solid sound for a debut.
