Single Review – Washed Out – Get Lost

After a four-year hiatus, since album Paracosm, Washed Out (aka Ernest Greene) is back with new single ‘Get Lost’, which isn’t quite as antisocially aggressive as the title may imply. Made up of strangely hypnotic layers of sound, including vertiginous sax and plenty of plucky piano, ‘Get Lost’ is like wandering around in a summer haze, while the intermittent hummings of a distant radio pull you ever onwards. Okay, so Greene hasn’t created the kind of track anyone will be reciting lyrics from anytime soon, musically ‘Get Lost’ has a subtle groove that builds into an interestingly mesmerising track chillwave fans could really loose themselves to. But then what would you expect from one of the genres founding creators.
